I feel like I have been waiting an epically long time to read this book. However, I have only known that it existed for a little over six months... Need me to explain? Well The Nanny Diaries film is one of my favourite movies of all time. It is just so me. And anyway, I'll try not to rave on about how much I adore the movie. So I found out that there is not only one book, but two (the first is which the movie is based off) and oh boy did I want to buy them so I could sink my teeth into the epic tale. Low and behold, I moved home from college and discovered that the mobile library (which is a van thingy that brings books from larger towns, and when I say larger, I mean not 300&600 people like my nearest 'towns') could get them in... and it did... and it was, as I presumed, epic! I started reading the first book yesterday morning and finished it over breakfast this morning. Now I am one happy camper as the book did not disappoint in the slightest. It is a fair bit different to the movie, but I see them as two equally amazing entities so all is good and well in the world... Nanny (yes we don't ever find out her actual name, nor the name of most other characters) works as a nanny (ironic? nope, didn't think so) for the elite and prestigious ladies of New York. Oh what a pleasure that must be you all ask as Nanny and I scoff at your naivety. I cannot/will not go into the details, but this novel is witty and bright while focusing on how unfortunately blessed Nanny is to be raising the Xes son, Grayer. A fabulous story that is making me want to ditch my university assignment so that I can dig into book number two. Rate: 9/10 Format: Paperback Pages: 306 Genre: Chick-lit If you loved the movie, you'll love the book!! |
