Sisterhood Everlasting
Oh boy. I do not even know where to start for this one...
I finished Monsters and thought, yepp, the final Sisterhood (of the traveling pants) would be a nice change of pace. Happy, colourful and full of light is what I as expecting, and hoping for. Well, was I ever wrong?!
I don't even know how to write about it without giving away the whole plot.
Pretty much, it is set ten years after Forever in Blue (the fourth book). The girls are all off on their own adventures, Tibby is living in Australia (hey, hey, honourary mention for Oz), Carmen is acting, Bee is Bee and Lena is teaching art. Distance has been a big thing for the girls and all are looking forward to a reunion trip to Greece. But not even one happy day can be spent in beautiful Greece. Nope, chapter four (i'm pretty sure) brings a ginormous shock and a hell of a lot of tears! There I was, thinking that I would read a chapter before I went to sleep, but nope! Four chapters and a sore nose later I was laying with my light off asking myself WHY?! I know... again!!! Things slowly (think glacier speed) get a little lighter towards the end of the book, but the tears didn't dry up until probably six chapters (by dry up I mean not cry on every single page) from the end.
As for the writing. Fantastic!!! Anne truly is a talented author, and she transitioned the girls from teenagers to adults perfectly. So many incredible literary techniques and bookorm worthy fangirl moments.
Yeah, thats all I've got. Sorry, still emotionally drained. Need to go watch some Disney movies... I'm thinking Shrek. Yepp, good thinking 99.
Rate: 8/10
Recommended if: You want to know how it all ends (PS. Anne has said that she may write another book in the future)
Not Recommended if: You don't have a full box of tissues on handdit.

3 Willows
I picked this book up from the book fair back in June because it is written by Ann Brashares, the author of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants series which I am quite fond of.
The story isn't actually about the 'original sisterhood girls', but there are references and even little cameos from characters of the series, which I thoroughly enjoyed! This book follow Ama, Penny and Jo, who were best friends that drifted apart, and their journeys through a summer (of course) that change them. Can they find themselves so that you can find each other again? They are all quite relatable characters that tend to make me think of fourteen year old me. An easy read that was enjoyable and fun. No tears at all. :) Rate: 7/10 Recomended If: You liked TSOTTP and love warm stories |
