Fire and Flood
First of all can we just acknowledge how amazingly gorgeous this cover this? I mean come on, it's smokin'... ged it, ged it?!?!
So pretty much this chick Tella gets an invitation to participate in a race across four ecosystems (jungle, desert, sea and mountains), with the grand prize being a miraculous cure that will irradiate any disease or illness. Cody is Tella's nineteen year old brother and Cody is dying. And so of course Tella has to compete and compete she does. I am trying to do this review without spoilers so I'll just say that Tella befriends some heckers people and some heckers not people, because each competitor receives a Pandora upon entry to the race and a Pandora is a bio-engineered creature whose soul purpose is to aide their owner. Oh and of course, they have super powers, I know, it's epic! Now I have heard a lot of people comparing Fire and Flood to The Hunger Games, but I actually thought it was very similar in both writing style and ideas to the Lorien Legacies series. The more the book went along though, the more I felt it came into its own. I really, truly enjoyed this book and it had those cliff-hanger chapters that made it impossible to put down.
