Still Alice
Wow. This book is breathtaking.
It is about a psychology/linguistics professor who is diagnosed with Alzheimer just after her 50th birthday. Now before you tune out and be like "Not My Kind Of Story", Don't. This isn't normally something I would read, but a friend my age raved about how good it was and so I thought I'd give it a crack and boy am I glad that I did! I started reading it Tuesday night and finished it last night. Gripping. You get to see how the diseases cripples her mind and the slow devolution that is Alice. The way the story is written is fantastic; with the beginning being so complex and detailed and as the disease progressively gets worse... I want to say so too does the text, but it doesn't get worse, It just gets less complex I guess. But wow, please, if you ever listen to me, do it now. READ THIS BOOK! You will not regret it and it will definitely have an impact on your life. Genre: Fiction Length: 293 pages Recommended If: like to be changed Got it From: An op-shop |
