I am Number Four
So you may or may not be familiar with John and his Lorien back story, from the film of the same title. I believe I read I am Number Four back in, say 2010. Which for me was grade ten in high school. My English teacher had a copy and shared it around my class. I read it less than a day, as not only is a fairly straight forward and easy read, but quite an engaging and entertaining novel. So John is one of (the fourth) twelve Lorien children sent from their dying planet to Earth with a cepan (protector). As they progress through, yeah I'll say it, puberty, they begin to develop legacies (super powers). The story is in John's POV and begins as they leave one town behind (like always) for Paradise, Ohio where he meets Sam and Sarah. Aka, bestie and galfriend. It's not long though before Mogadorians (the bad aliens who destroyed the planet Lorien) track John down and destroy his school. But never fear, John meets up with Six (Lorien also) and they prepare to find their other alien friends.

The Power of Six
The Power of Six picks up where I am Number Four left off. I honestly cannot remember too many specifics, as the books tend to jumble together. SO bear with me, If its the wrong book... please forgive me? ;)
John, Six and Sam (whose father was kidnapped by the Mogadorians) travel around looking for Six's chect (each Garde- Loric chosen children has one which contains cool gadgets) which she believes is in this big mountain they kept her captive in). A large section of the novel though is from Marina's (number seven) POV, who lives in an orphanage in Spain. She is a great character, and we get a glimpse at number twelve who is disguised as someone else.

The Rise of Nine
As suggested, The Rise of Nine is about the rise of nine, who we meet in the previous book and takes everyone to hide out in his huge apartment in Chicago where they train and argue... a lot. More looking for chests and finding out secrets. More battles with Mogadorians and some weird dreams begin to disturb John.

The Fall of Five
The dreams that were troubling John begin to engulf all the members of the Garde. Five plays a significant role in a way you may not imagine, and John is reunited with Sarah and Sam. Which, creates a hell of a love square. Oh, and they track eight down too, and he has some pretty neat legacies. PLUS a Mogadorian called Adam emerges who is not only NOT a foe, but is demonstrating some quick ass powers of his own. I believe that there is to be like eight books in the series, with the next not being released til late August this year. The wait is killing me!!

The Lost Files: The Legacies
This book lets us see the lives of the One, Two and Three (who were killed before the series started) as well as Six and Nine's lives before John. All told through Adam, as we see how he came to own One's legacies. LOVED IT!!
