The front cover of this novel reads "You have never read a book like this before- Jodi Picoult" and never have I seen a comment that sums up a book more perfectly than this. I decided to pick this book out of my bookshelf for my little holiday because I wanted something big enough to last me a week but also something enchantingly inescapable. Let me just say, I chose well. *deep sigh* The story is told from the perspective of eight year old Max's imaginary friend Budo. And before you go deeming this a children's book, DON'T!! This book is definitely intended for mature audiences and is quite sophisticated. It is so complex and detailed but encompasses the mindset of an imaginary friend so well. Man, what a read! I don't want to go into spoiler territory so I'll just say that Max becomes in terrible danger and the only person who can save him is of course Budo. This book was so engaging that I wanted to ditch my family and friends and just read, which is rare for me, haha, *cough cough* ;) Rate: 8/10 Recommended if: you want to read something exciting and exquisitely unique Got it From: the op-shop |
