This is all very raw and fresh. At 8.30am I thought that although I need to be planning all of my lessons for next week, I wouldn't mind just reading a chapter or two of that book. I have just emerged from my cocoon having completed the masterpiece that is Claiming Noah three and a half hours later... So okay, this book blew me away. It is such a realistic piece of literature that envelopes some of the most endearing characters I have ever read about. It follows two women; who are going through very different and yet similar journeys of first time motherhood. Catriona and her husband have successfully fallen pregnant with their third try of IVF and decide to donate their remaining embryo to an anonymous couple also struggling to conceive. Diana and her husband are blessed with the embryo and they too fall pregnant. But after many months of love and anguish, both women lose their babies to circumstances far beyond of their control. Catriona has been admitted to a clinic where she cannot see her son because of postnatal psychosis and Diana's son has been kidnapped. What follows is the breakdown of numerous relationships and the building of a great few. But will either mother ever be reunited with her son?
